Carlow College Archives



Carlow College was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1929 as Mount Mercy College. Soon after its founding Sister M. Hieronyme McCaffrey, the first librarian, began to collect photos and other materials pertinent to its history. In 1969 these were stored in an area provided in the new library building. In that same year, the college changed its name to Carlow College.

At present the archives contain approximately 430 linear feet. It holds the minutes of the Board of Trustees meetings, reports and papers of the presidents, faculty reports, minutes of faculty meetings, several individual faculty papers, course catalogs, departmental records, institutional publications, student records, alumnae records, some yearbooks, scrapbooks, and photos.
