Eladio Andujar Lugo

I am currently an undergraduate student at Carnegie Mellon University in the Mechanical Engineering Department. I am advised by Prof. Taylor (Microsystems and Mechanobiology Lab). My research objective is to create/expand on DNA origami tools such that they could handle PNA and DNA-PNA molecules. I expect to graduate with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from CMU in 2025.

Current Projects

  1. Development of DNA-PNA Origami Design pipeline from conceptual blueprint to Scaffolding route.
  2. Software utilizes a vector-based approach to process DNA-PNA molecules.

Previous Experience

Mechanics II: 3D Design Course Highlights Spring 2023

  • Bicycle Pedal: In a team of three, we designed a Bicycle pedal with a specified failure load to avoid user injury. The design process was based on hand-calculations, Solidwork Models and FEA. The final design was laser cut and tested.
  • Transportable Seating Apparatus: In a team of three, we designed a chair that folded neatly and fit into a carry-on luggage suitcase. The design process was holistic and centered around out target customer base. The final design was made of wood and was the result of hand-calculations, Solidwork Models and FEA.

Mechanics I: 2D Design Course Highlights Fall 2022

  • The Martian's Coat Rack: In a team of three, we designed a load-bearing bracket. This bracket was to hold 20 lbs at a FOS of 2 and was to be mass-minimized. This mass minimization was done by relying on hand-calculations, SolidWork Models and FEA. Our final design was laser cut and tested.

Fundamentals of MechE Course Highlights Fall 2021

  • Truss Design: In a group of three, we designed a simple truss with a specified failure load. The design process was based on hand-calculations, Solidworks Models and FEA. The final design was laser cut and tested.

  • Arduino Smart Car Robot: In a group of three, we developed a simple algorithm that allowed it to complete the specified course. Trial and error was used to fix any errors the code had.
