The Microsystems and Mechanobiology Lab is currently interested in recruiting undergraduates, Masters students, Ph.D. students, and Postdocs who are interested in both biomechanics and active structures at the micro- and nanoscales.

We come from many different fields, but we share common research interests!

What are our research interests?

  • The biomechanics of development and disease
  • Sensors, actuators, and dynamic structures
  • Molecular biomachines
  • Top-down microfabrication
  • Bottom-up nanofabrication

What fields are relevant to our research?

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Bioengineering
  • Chemistry and Chemical Engineering
  • Physics
  • ... or any other field in engineering, science or art.

How to Apply

If you are interested to join the team, please prepare the following information: a full CV indicating your background, research interests, and publications, as well as a statement of interest explaining why you are interested to join MMBL. Email your materials to us at "joinmmbl@gmail.com", and we will review your materials and get back to if we find that you might be a good fit for the lab.

Postdoctoral researchers should use the "joinmmbl@gmail.com" email for initial discussions, but postdocs must officially apply through the university for this position.

If you are applying to the graduate program in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering at CMU, please send these materials after you have applied to the program.

We apologize that we do not typically respond to inquiries sent to Professor Taylor's university email account, but Professor Taylor receives numerous inquiries and can only manage them using the separate "joinmmbl@gmail.com" account, which we process regularly.

We look forward to hearing from you!
