I had a difficult couple of days dealing with technical problems involving my internet connection. It took forever to track down and lots of frustration because my machine froze every time I tried to access it. I had several days of dead ends until today. I felt like I had accomplished so much that I went birding on Hawk Hill. It is the highest point above the bay where members of the Golden Gate Raptor Observatory gather to count hawk sightings. This week is the height of their migration and this is a main point on their rout. I could see the trees behind my house and the hawks hunting for song birds in them. One of the members had left a pair of binoculars with the day leader for me. This particular hill catches large wind drifts that the hawks ride up like elevators to give them incredible height as they fly over the bay and the city. Tourists were on the overlook below taking pictures of the bridge while we were standing with our back to the more popular view watching these huge birds staying in one place but moving up directly in front of us usually while digesting a song bird in their throat.
