The photo at top left is cropped from a postcard showing the shop of William A. Bachman on the northeast corner of Front and Centre Streets. Note the large spectacles in the window to the left of the door, advertising his optician services. Charlie Stumpf referred to him as a jeweler and optician in his Freeland book, noting that Bachman opened his business in 1912. In the program for the 1932 annual ball of the Freeland Police Department (shared by Billy Kuklis), Bachman's ad said that he was an optometrist.
