Tanah was founded in 2003 as Carnegie Mellon's first South Asian Dance Troupe.

It is composed of Carnegie Mellon students pursuing both undergraduate and graduate programs, and of various ethnicities and backgrounds.

Ever since, it has been active not only on-campus but also at inter-collegiate competitions and national showcases. United by our passions for dancing, each member continues to develop new styles and skills that allow us to express our dynamic individualism. Tanah prides itself by creating and performing dances ranging from western hip-hop and jazz to bhangra and modern classical. In short, Tanah stands for the purity of motion, the desire to develop forms of movement that express our emotions.Together as one, we honor our heritage and our fervor for dance.
