About Dancers' Symposium
Dancers' Symposium (DS) aims to provide an open and supportive environment to further the exposure of dance, music, student choreography, and student performance at Carnegie Mellon University. DS is CMU's largest student-run dance organization, with over 130 members each semester.
History
DS was founded in 1990 by a group of faculty and students to provide an opportunity for graduate and undergraduate students to choreograph and perform original dance pieces for their peers, faculty, and family.

Dancers
Over 200 dancers participate in our show each semester, performing in ballet, hip hop, and everything in between. Dancers' skill levels range from semi-professional to absolute beginner; we have opportunities for people with any amount of experience (including none) to get on stage, get involved, and be a part of our community.

Choreographers
Each semester, about 20 dancers choose to choreograph their own pieces, and are given full authority--from choosing to dancers to choosing costumes to choosing songs. Choreographers are able to craft a piece in any style--bootylicious hip hop, moving contemporary, anything in between, or a whole new style we've never seen before!

Directors
The directors are a group of 6 members of DS responsible for allocating funds, scheduling space, and organizing the show and other events.
Directors are chosen at the end of eligible semesters. Your Fall '23-Spring '24 directors are:
