Dave & Busters
I had the opportunity to spend a large chunk of last Sunday at Dave and Busters, a huge new entertainment complex at the Waterfront plaza. Its a combination of restaurant, arcade, pool hall, sports bar, and so a lot more. Its a pretty crazy place, and if you've got money to spend, this might be a nice way to do it. One warning, those under age 21 are not entirely loved at Dave and Busters. During the night, anyone below legal drinking age must be accompanied by someone who is 25 or older (no more than a 3:1 ratio). This condition is relaxed in some circumstances, but its best to call ahead of time to check. Since its not always easy to get together a group of people over the age of 20, this Dave and Busters might not work for some people. But for those old enough, DnB is as close as you'll come to the adult version of Chuck e Cheese. Its deviously designed to suck out your money in the most efficient and fun way possible. There's a giant arcade filled with tons and tons of games, shooters and racers and some of the most technically advanced things around. You pay for these with points that you purchase ahead of time, which tends to make you forget that you're paying huge amounts of money, but its all for a good time. They've got a whole host of brand new ($15,000) pool tables, which you can play for anywhere from $8 to $12 an hour. There are shuffleboard games, a Mystery Dinner Theatre (3 hour performance and 3 course dinner where you and your group get to participate in solving a mystery), and Battletech, a multi-million dollar immersive gaming simulation in which you try to blow up your friend's tanks. The restaurant portion of the complex is quite good, with good prices (from $6 for a burger to $16 for a steak) and a medium sized selection. The bars (one in practically each room - what better way to get you to play video games all night than to get you sloshed?) are nice, and reasonably priced ($4.75 for a pint of guiness, $4.50 for a mixed drink). Even better, we were there on a Sunday and so the televisions were displaying 5 different NFL games simultaneously. Overall, you'll be overwhelmed by the amount to do at this place. Its a good time, but I recommend that you don't bring ATM cards because once you're drunk (or even if you're sober), there's not much to stop you from playing Harley Davidson Racing until you've overdrawn.
