I am currently a 3rd-Year Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Carnegie Mellon University. Before that I obtained the M.Phil. degree from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2012. I graduated from the Elite Class of Electrical Eng., South China University of Technology in 2008.

My current research interests mainly focus on graphical models and mid-level discriminative element learning, with their applications to image parsing, scene understanding and autonomous driving. I'm also interested in machine learning problems related to spectral clustering, graphical density estimation and mode seeking.

I am the awardee of the 2009-2010/2011-2012 HKTIIT Post-Graduate Excellence Scholarships and Carnegie Institute of Technology Dean's Tuition Fellowship.

I am a member of the VALSE Online Organization Committee (VOOC) and the moderator of VALSE QQ Group, an elite academic discussion platform with many famous Chinese researchers and promising students in computer vision / machine learning.  The group regularly holds paper reading webinars / invited talks on a weekly basis.
