Description:
"Project Darkstar" is an open source project which offer designers and developers an efficient ans stable server platform so that they can easily create their own online applications. Created and administrated by Sun microsystems, now Project Darkstar has more input from school - the ETC Darkstar project successfully combine a game engine, Panda3D, with Project Darkstar.
In this 15 weeks project, a 5-person team completed a online game platform with those following features:
- The framework combine two different language and platform: the side is Project Darkstar, which is an open source software using JAVA; the client side is Panda3D, which is an opensource game engine using Python.
- With the integration, Panda3d now can have the networking capability which it is uaed to be lack.
- Project Darkstar for the first time have integrated with a real game engine. It allow more and more users joined the Project Darkstar community and develop online game.
Except the framework implementation, in ETC Darkstar project, we also tested and wrote report about the usability of Project Darkstar for the client. We worked closely and have a conference call every week. Client was very satisfied with our final delievery.
