SO WHAT (1989-90)
A performance interplaying stories, songs and slides
Between 1985 and 1990 I toured extensively and internationally with a performance format which was a mixture of storytelling, songs and projected slide images delivered in a quasi newscaster style. Many of the stories were based on personal experience and observations, examining the particularities and peculiarities of a Northern Irish background. The slide images were never literal illustrations of the stories but provided visual counterpoints, which were variously complementary, tangential, discomforting or purposefully bewildering.
In 1990 I decided to record a selection of the performance material as a video entitled 'So What'.
