About meBorn into a family of six girls, I have developed a relaxed nature that enables me to perform successfully in high stress environments. Not to be confused with passive or lazy, I enjoy starting and taking on projects where I have the ability to transform them from an idea to a reality. I am an enthusiastic person with a broad range of interests. Personality typed ENFP (Extraverted, intuitive, feeling and perception); many of these characteristics are consistent with my interests and accomplishments. My interests include all outdoor activities, of which I plan to eventually develop comprehensively enough to volunteer in search and rescue. During my time as an undergraduate student at Allegheny College, I expressed my interest in health and fitness through my development of an aerobics and fitness program at the college’s Wise Center. My interest in business development is most evident through an online company, Gatorbuy.com LLC, which I and several peers developed in 2006. Anxious to begin a career and pursue higher education, I am participating in an accelerated masters program between Allegheny College and Carnegie Mellon University’s The H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management. This program enables me to complete both my MS in Health Care Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University and my Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Allegheny College within four years. Upon commencement from The Heinz School in August 2008, I plan to volunteer for the Peace Corps for two years. Through the Peace Corps, I hope to apply my health policy education to the core goal of expanding health education in countries in South America and help establish more efficient methods of the delivery of health care in these areas. Upon completion of my service in the Peace Corps, I hope to return to the United States with a broadened view of possible solutions to the complex issues of health care administration and health care redevelopment. With this knowledge, I plan to work closely with my cousin, a state representative and health care reform advocate, in developing solutions to health care administration problems within the United States.
