Hi! I'm Vincent, last name Teo. I'm currently a sophomore in the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. I'll be turning 22 soon enough (gosh I feel old!).
I'm from Singapore, that small little red dot in the region of South-East Asia. I'm actually studying at CMU on a scholarship, which basically means that they pay for my tuition plus some other stuff. The catch is that I'll have to work for them for six years upon graduation, failing that I'll have to pay them back. It also means that I'm required to maintain a certain GPA as well.
Prior to coming to CMU, I served two years of compulsory military service with the Singapore Army. While it mostly wasn't fun, I have to admit that I learnt a lot of life lessons in those two years, and that ultimately it was a good experience. Well, people tend to remember the good I guess.
As for future plans, I'm aiming to finish my degree in three years and go on to get my Master's in my fourth year before heading home to my job. I haven't decided on which area of CS I would like to specialise in yet, although I've already done a bit of the process of elimination. But I guess that's really not good enough, because you don't choose to specialise in something just because you don't like everything else, do you? Hopefully I'll decide soon. And who knows, I might go on to do my PhD in the future. It's a bit far off for me to think of right now I suppose.
