Hi Friends (and lost wanderers)

We were waiting to hold a big party/reception in the US, but that never materialized.  We’ve been fortunate to meet many of you individually, instead.  In response to the overwhelming demand from friends who missed the wedding, and, in fact, have not even met Kanika, we wanted to share how you could bring a smile to us.  By that, of course, we mean ¯The Wedding Registry¯.

But, since our “official” one year clock is ticking, we thought that we’d figure out what we want to do.

We’ve spent a lot of time looking at things we need, want, or would like, and we came to the conclusion there is no one (or even several) stores that would carry all the sorts of things we would want.  E.g., for the obligatory blender/processor, the only one we found that could handle dry grinding was an INDIAN blender, not Kitchen Aid, Waring, or Cuisinart.  We’re also about to invest in some bedroom furniture, you know, stuff that is hard to gift wrap.

So, we couldn’t come up with a traditional wedding registry.  Instead, we are reverting to the age-old Indian tradition of Little Red Envelope (like the Chinese).  It is traditional to give cash (and checks, now) to the wedded couple.  The modern twist is gift certificates, so we can mention several stores that we make use of:

Amazon

Land’s End

Bed, Bath, and Beyond

Linens n Things

There are no Macy’s, Bloomingdales, or Nordstroms, etc., in our Pittsburgh area L.

But,  money is the easiest for us, and it leaves us the pleasure of shopping.  In terms of preferences, Amazon carries the widest range, so that also works somewhat easier than the others, but if you don’t mind a token gift as $ cash $, that is what we'd prefer.

But, of course, whatever you wish to send will be cherished, and we promise not to use any money you might send for buying groceries, feeding our Gulab Jamun addictions, etc.  We will use these for things that should normally have been put in a registry, for things that we’ll find useful and appreciate for a long time.
