I am an undergraduate student at Carnegie Mellon University, Qatar . I earned my highschool degrees from two schools, namely Birla Public School, Doha and Indian High School, Dubai. My first contact with the world of Information Systems was through a distinguished professor in the IS Department. His name is Dr. Liginlal Divakaran. Throughout childhood, I always had an interest towards how systems and networks work across the globe - at both micro-level and macro-level. At my mother's office or at home, whenever there was a computer shutdown, virus attack or any general difficulties for users, I tried my best to figure out a solution. At Carnegie Mellon Qatar, I took the course: Concepts of Information Systems, which has helped to reassure myself that my interest lies in this subject. I would love to use this course as a jumpstart to gain the desired skills and expertise to offer long-term systematic solutions to organizations in the early phase of my career and to extend it to my goal of becoming a successful Information Systems Manager.

To fulfill my sense of purpose of life, I am currently involved in a variety of community service activities and am particularly proud of my involvement with the Language Bridges Program, a Carnegie Mellon University Qatar based initiative dedicated to tutoring laborers and technicians of the society to overcome the language barrier of English. Here is the Language Bridges Facebook Page. In addition, I perform local fund-raisers, and take part in cleanup and road safety campaigns to raise awareness to the society on these issues. I am driven by passion to help the underprivileged as well as keep the environment clean and safe. Community service is my way of giving back to the community.

In the near future, i.e., during my first two years at Carnegie Mellon University Qatar, I intend on taking up a few student IT jobs as well as complete an internship at a tech-giant such as Sercel or ICT Qatar, in order to have IT-related work experience. I am now working with the IT Department at Virginia Commonwealth University, Qatar as an IT Test Analyst. The job responsibilities endowed on me are combining strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities with project management skills. For example, I worked on a project for the creation of the inventory as well as the customer database for a Point of Sale System (POS), in which I had deadlines for the start-up of the system right from scratch to present in front of the students of the University for their yearly Open House. Through this experience, I developed interpersonal skills that are crucial to reconciling the sometimes disparate needs of management, technical personnel and end-users.

My ultimate goal in obtaining a college education is to earn a Masters of Information Systems Management degree from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh. Being ranked #1 in the world for information technology management, Carnegie Mellon will make me acquire the desired skills for handling technical, business and strategic problems, which I may face in my quest to become a successful Information Systems Manager.
