Not all shows are created equally. Some have different formats.
Theatre Sports:
Created by Keith Johnstone
FORMAT:
- Team A will challenge Team B to a game/challenge
- Team B will then get the suggestion from the audience
- Unless stated otherwise, Team B will perform the challenged
game, and then Team A will perform the same game using the
same suggestion
- Winners will be decided by audience vote unless other rules for deciding
a winner are stated.
- The audience is ENCOURAGED to “BOO” during the above
described games. If a team is booed, they will automatically loose,
and will pull punishments out of the improv hat. A list of some punishment
ideas can be downloaded here.
OTHER RULES:
- Challenges can be non traditional games. A list of some ideas can
be downloaded here.
- If a team literally “throws in the towel” they have 1
min to complete the scene and can not loose due booing.
- The Referee’s decisions and decrees are final (even if they
are wrong, or he makes them up)
- a team can “refuse” or “baulk” a challenge,
they must supply a reason, and the Referee will either accept or reject
it.
Challenges do not have to be standard improv games.
MICETRO
Created by Keith Johnstone
FORMAT:
- Every Player plays one game per Round
- A round ends when every player has played in the round.
- At the end of a game, the audience awards the scene with points.
Every member in that scene receives those points.
- Players must participate if their names are selected, however, any
player may enter a scene/game they are not selected to play.
- If you enter a scene you also get the points associated with it, and
only players who have not played during the current round may enter
a new scene.
SCORING:
Every Game gets points based on quality:
- Well, it is the thought that counts
- I was entertained.
- There were a few good lines.
- Wow, now that was great
- Robin Williams, where did he come from?
