Description
A very simple character-building exercise, good for many uses but
particularly if you're working on long-form. Basically, one person sits in
a chair ("hot seat") and inhabits a character; another person (or several
people) ask that character questions ("what do you fear most?" "who is
your best friend?" "what was your most embarrassing moment?" etc). Works
best if you do some kind of character-creating activity first; I often
played Ayne's Bitch Ass Game to begin with, then had people pick one of
their character they created there and played Hot Seat with them. Again,
not the easiest or most fun, but incredibly helpful. If people don't like
it, build up to those harder questions by asking light things ("what is
your favorite food?" "what are you going to do tonight?")
