Are
you a Carnegie Mellon University staff member who is considering filing
a grievance?
Do you
need help making sense of the Staff Grievance Procedure?
Are
you looking for someone who can offer you unbiased support throughout the
process?
The
Staff Council Grievance Committee may be able to help. The Staff Council
Grievance Committee was founded to support and accompany staff members
who are investigating and participating in the grievance process at Carnegie
Mellon. The list that follows indicates the services and support the committee
can provide.
-
We will
offer information about the grievance process, supportive listening, non-judgemental
feedback, and note-taking during proceedings to anyone anticipating or
participating in the grievance process.
-
We are
one source for such services. There are many others (friends, colleagues,
family).
-
We are
not advice givers, advocates, or experts.
-
Our purpose
is not to endorse either the grievant or the University, but rather to
assist in a fair grievance process.
-
A grievant
has no commitment to using our Committee's service. Once we have been contacted,
the grievant can disengage us at any time, for any reason.
-
A grievant's
right to privacy will be honored at all times.
Get the
Grievance
Guide!** It simply explains the grievance procedure in a clear
and easy to read format. It includes an outline and flow chart of
the procedure.
If you
have questions or concerns about the procedures or would like to talk to
someone further, please feel free to contact anyone on the following list:
**
The Grievance Guide is a "pdf" file and requires the free Adobe Acrobat
Reader to view, available at Adobe at http://www.adobe.com

trouble accessing The Grievance Guide? Contact Sheree Malek (see
