Hey, my name is Rohan Kalra, and I am currently a sophomore at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh PA. I am pursuing two degrees, a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems with my track in Global Systems, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. I am originally from Calcutta, India. I was born on the 30th of November, 1989 so I am 20 years old. I have no immediate siblings, but one half-brother who was born on the 12th of August, 2007. I completed my elementary school and high school in Calcutta and then came to Carnegie Mellon for my undergraduate studies.
I pursue a lot of activities here at Carnegie Mellon. I work part time here as a Cluster Consultant in the Computing Services division, and am also a Sexual Assault Advisor. I am a presidential member of the National Society of Leadership and Success, CMU Chapter, and an active member in the Undergraduate Consulting Club and the Undergraduate Finance Association. I also have a variety of interests such as tennis, swimming, squash, going to the gym etcm and I try to do as much of these as possible without it affecting my school work. Besides these interests, I am also an avid sports fan. I love soccer, and try to keep up with the different leagues around the world as much as I can. I also love ice hockey, and try to watch the Pittsburgh Penguins play here at Mellon Arena as often as I can.
Professionally, I hope to pursue a career in the field of finance or information technology here in the U.S.A. I have worked with my father the past two summers and now have a part-time job on-campus, but am hoping to get an internship for summer 2010 that will allow me to put my academic knowledge to use and hopefully help me develop some of my real-world skills.
