I am a graduate student in Materials Science & Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. My advisor, Prof. Subhash Mahajan, accepted a professorship at Arizona State University, where I followed him. So I am an in absentia student. On 20 June 1997 I passed the Ph. D. qualifying examination, thereby fulfilling the requirements for a M. S. in MSE, which was conferred on 12 August 1997, and acceptance into the Ph. D. program. On 19 May 1996 I graduated from CMU with degrees of a B. S. in MSE with a minor in Electronic Materials and a B. A. in Philosophy (with college honors). So that's the academic side of me. I sometimes re-read my old Philosophy books to put me to sleep at night. I enjoy foreign languages and etymology; I have studied Latin and Greek and am currently teaching myself Japanese (shumi wa nihongo no dokusho desu...). But my real love is music. I've played guitar for about a decade now and recently I've become obsessed with recording my music as Queue. Don't listen for it on the radio. :-) |
Here is a picture of me in the traditional garb of the Annual El Toro Night:
