Infants come to the mission and it is never becasue things are going well. I have seen a child come in whose mother had died, carried for days by the father who knew his inability to care for the child. Lucy Moreno brought in Estella, next to death, found in a room with her mother who had starved to deathstarved to death. Police officials have brought infants, taken from drunken prostitutes. Infants with obvious physical defects are brought to the mission. At the mission, El Hogar de las Ninas, every child is loved. Every life is celebrated and every death is mourned.
Danny Scott stayed up all night with sick child, just days old. Bob Romanosky brought life to an incubator, given by the French, but useless becasue no French fuse could be found in Patzun. Shelia Phillips cried every night in Guatemala becasue not every child had someone to offer love.

The 3 - 7 year olds, like Kimberley, make up the bulk of the mission orphanage population.

Indeginous, local women are hired to live with the children in shifts.
Nathan McClure was always drawn to the little ones. In 1996 his brightest memory was being allowd to fee a pair of tiny twins, seated to his left and below him in this 1999 photo.
