Aanchal Nancy Jha (njha)

Hi! I am Nancy.

Fun fact: Eventhough 'Nancy' is my middle name, I go by Nancy.

Randy Pausch

Randy Pausch was a professor of computer science, human–computer interaction, and design at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in Pittsburgh. He was a virtual reality pioneer and the creator of the ALICE software project. He was best known for his inspirational "Last Lecture," which he delivered after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.

After watching Randy Pausch's Time Management lecture, I liked these 5 points:

  1. Think of time as money. Wasting an hour or something that doesn't matter or on something that you are not interested in must feel expensive.
  2. Planning is the key. Failing to plan is equivalent to planning to fail. So plan your hour, day, week and semester ahead.
  3. Make a to-do list and cut it down to tiny parts. This can be a great way of structuring a to-do list.
    Due soon Not due soon
    Important 2 1
    Not Important 3 5

  4. You need to have an accessible calendar with you at all times. Even if you think you don't need one, your brain is using too much energy to store your schedule. Stop wasting that energy.
  5. Most of the times it's not about efficiency, it's about effectiveness and the overall outcome. Do a little multi-task. When you are doign something that doesn't require much brain energy, pair that task with something else. Like talk to people on phone while riding a bike, or while making coffee or while travelling to university.
