program notes:

"Everything Flows" was initially conceived in three movements, which the composer eventualy merged into one "continuous flow" with three distinct sections, all featuring a colorful display of drums, toys, and mallet instruments. The first section opens robustly, then unfolds with moments of both high energy and sublime reflection. The middle section is accompanied at either end with two brief pre-recorded tracks of singing bowls and wind chimes. This section possesses a distinct eastern flavor, with a meditative spaciousness and gentle underlying pulse. The final section bursts forth in a seething rhythmic pace that builds to an explosive drumming cadenza, then closes out with a thrilling, fast-paced finale. —Martha Tablewight
