Noel Hefele

Biography

Noel Hefele
Noel Hefele is an artist in many dimensions.  From his neo-postimpressionist/postmodern fusion style of painting, to his hip-hop influenced electro-songwriting, to his unique design vision as a web author, Noel manages to infuse a strong sense of composition with an even stronger flare for originality.  Noel's first brushes with painting began as a Boston University philosophy major in 1996.  By 1998, he realized that as important as philosophy was to life's work, pursuing art was just as valid as journey into life's meaning, only with more tangible results.  So with the advice of his Mozart professor and a contemplative year back in his hometown of Norwalk at the local Community College, young Hefele took the jump and applied to the painting department of Carnegie Mellon University.  He was accepted and remained on the Dean's list until his graduation in 2002.  While attending as a student, Noel to taught himself html over spring break and landed himself a postion with a eco-art research group called 3 Rivers 2nd Nature, out the University's STUDIO for Creative Inquiry, as their web developer and eventually research associate and technical advisor.  Here, he grounded his philosophical investigations in the pragmatism of reconstructive-post modern social sculpture, after Beuys, who philosophised that art is not practiced in a vacuum, contrary to the legacy of modernism.  The STUDIO for Creative Inquiry was essentially a graduate school education, but Noel is planning on graduate school, focusing on the role images have in constructing "public commons" values, as related to the rapidly changing (and diabolically paradoxical) eco-social landscape.  After nearly 7 years in Pittsburgh, Noel moved to Philadelphia in August 2006.
