What's a One Act? A one act is a short play that takes place in one act or usually one scene as opposed to more common plays that takes place over a number of scenes in one or more acts. They tend to be simpler, have less props and scenery, as well as few cast members (sometimes only one). So who runs this whole SotR thing? Matt Joachim, the who offered SnS the proposal for this year's Scotch on the Rocks will be the chair of the Scotch on the Rocks. This committee will act similarly to the board, as they will be the voting body that selects scripts, directors and generally oversee the entire process. Okay, this committee sounds cool and I'm power hungry, how do I join? Sorry, all positions are full. But join the tech staff! Acting and directing sucks. I want to be on the tech staff, what do I do? We're currently looking to build a tech staff for the production, there are absolutely no positions filled at this point so if you are interested in any tech staff position (including TD and PM) please email me ASAP at mwj@andrew and let me know what you're interested in. I've been working on a grand opus of a script, how do I submit it?Unfortunately, scripts are no longer being accepted. I want to direct, what do I do? Unfortunately, director proposals are no longer being accepted. However, there are still tons of spots open on our tech staff. I haven't written a play, but I found this awsome one act by David Ives or some other author, can I propose it? Well, traditionally SotR has been solely for student-written one acts. However, should we not get enough (more than 5) scripts written by students, we will open up to published scripts. Wait a second, so a committee is making all the decisions? Does that mean the board is powerless? The board will have authority over the entire process, they will, like every other show, attend rehearsals and give directors notes. Furthermore, the board preview will take place as it normally does with all non-biased board members voting, but the SotR committee will have the influence of one vote. The board will have the right to pass or fail only certain shows. How do I stay up to date with SotR? Please subscribe to .festival I want more details. Cool. Email me (mwj@) with specific questions, but keep in mind, many policies have not yet been decided. |
