MALASA JOIS
B.S. Biology & Psychology 07
M.S. Health Care Policy

about me

My name is Malasa Jois and I am currently a masters student at the Heinz School for Public Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon.  This web site illusrates some of my previous academic work and  also my current coursework in the Health Care Policy and Management program.   As an undergrad, I attended Carnegie Mellon gaining a degree in Biology and Psychology.  Aside from academic pursuits I am interested in music; I have previously trained in Indian Classical vocal music and have also participated in the Bellfield Church choir for kicks.  I often induldge in  jewelry-making, and if you would be interested in purchasing hand-made, customized jewelry, please contact me: muj@andrew.cmu.edu.  I also enjoy cooking, running, racquetball and television shows that are good. (ie., Man vs. Wild, Scrubs, the Dog Whisperer, Jeff Corwin Experience and the Food Network)

career goals

Understanding and promoting interest in health care policy has become one of my passions, however, my ultimate goal is to become a physician.  I plan on attending medical school in Summer 2008.  In the future I hope to use my unique background in Health Policy and Management to empower physicians and hospitals to make good choices in management and practice.  Hopefully this help revitalize the failing relationships between patients  and doctors due to the burden of a crumbling system and profit-making insurance companies.  Ultimately, I want to combine a passion for service to others with my interest in medicine with in the US and around the world.
