Story Highlights

Despite being smaller and less scary than the other monsters, Mike never gives up on his dream of becoming a professional scarer. He works harder than anyone else, studying techniques and perfecting his skills. Although he isn’t naturally frightening, Mike’s creativity and knowledge of scaring techniques make him invaluable.

Mike and Sulley join a misfit fraternity, Oozma Kappa, to compete in the Scare Games, a campus competition. Through hard work and teamwork, they learn to rely on each other and discover their unique strengths. Although they win the Scare Games, Mike realizes he doesn’t have what it takes to be a scarer, but his determination and skills help him find his true value.

The movie shows that success and belonging don’t always look how you expect—they come from embracing your strengths and working with others. Mike’s journey is a powerful example of how being different and persevering can lead to finding your place in the world.
