The Encounter was a collaboration with Kevan Loney, from CMU's Drama department (Video Media and Design program). We both wanted to experiment creatively with robots and set out to make a play that would involve a robotic arm and an actress.
While Kevan worked heavily on the visual side using touch designer, a Kinect and Processing, I wrote the robot interaction in RAPID and Procesing as well. We both worked in the narrative and also in the layout/stage, choosing to transform dFab, if only for a night, into a shadow theater. This was our final project for Golan Levin's
Interactive Art and Computational Design course.
