Information Systems Program
College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Carnegie Mellon University
This course covers the fundamental concepts of XML and XML-powered web services. Topics to be discussed include XML Schemas, XML parsing, searching and transforming with XPath and XSL, XML Databases and XQuery, and the building blocks of web services (WSDL, SOAP, and UDDI). All these concepts are integrated into application case studies involving the design and deployment of XML-powered web-services. Programming exercises are primarily based on Microsoft's .NET framework (Visual Studio 2010 and C#), the industry standard XMLSpy tool, and STRIKEIRON's webservices.*
*Thanks to STRIKEIRON (http://www.strikeiron.com/Home.aspx) for kindly providing access to their commercial webservices for this course.
