Abstract
In this paper, we suggest an extension to the existing accounting model to allow users to better understand the role of estimates/forecasts in financial statements. Our approach relies on a matrix presentation of financial statements. Their amounts are presented in three columns, "fact," "forecast," and "total," where the total column is exactly the same as those in conventional statements. Our paper analyze the costs and benefits associated with the extension.
