PhD Research:

The goal of my research is to integrate intermittent energy sources (i.e., wind and solar) efficiently into the electric power grid. There are multiple goals that I hope to achieve, particularly:

1) Integrating intermittent sources into the grid by coordinating the renewable sources with traditional energy sources and storage devices
2) Finding an efficient way of coordinating different control areas when the communication between areas is limited
3) Determining how much storage, backup generation capacity, and load flexibility is required to effectively integrate these intermittent sources
