Who is Randy Pausch?
He was a CMU CS professor. He's at University of Virgenia to talk about time management.
-
What was he known for?
To quote the Youtube video description, "he is a virtual reality pioneer, human-computer interaction researcher, co-founder of Carnegie Mellon's Entertainment Technology Center and creator of the Alice software project."
-
5 points that I liked in his talk:
- He is optimistic towards his cancer and tries his best to make the speech funny and enjoyable using personal examples (like a talk show in some ways).
- His talk about time management is a progressional way and are audience-specific.
- His unique perspective on calling others at 11:50 to keep the call short and save time (now I understand why my mother calls whenever I start eating).
- His futuristic vision on auto-scanning desks, brain-computer interface, and noise-free social media (quite surprising that some are still concepts nowadays).
- His detailed instruction and guidelines on what we could to do better manage our time e.g. get personal digital assistant and do reflections on time management skills.
