Rock Ross called to tell me that there was going to be a party here at the Headlands in one of the bunkers. He said some one was building a big alligator head at his studio which was the entrance to the bunker. Four of us put on wigs or pumpkins in Petr's case and headed off to it. Petr was bringing along a bag full of gigantic wet kelp which he called an octopus. When we got there he took the kelp and threaded it through some of the holes he had carved in the pumpkin for that happy and creepy look. The party was hosted by people who work for the park and live here. They had four port-a-lets brought in.
Coming up the hill we could see the area, where the big gun turret used to be, had a large bonfire built in it. Tin cans the size you find in Cafeterias or bulk warehouses had patterns cut into them with candles inside leading the way down the winding pot-holed road to the party. When we got close the tin can lanterns turned into torches that had been made with toilet floats and wicks mounted on posts. A large weather balloon was hanging in the back of the turret a blinking eye was projected on it with a film loop. Between the balloon and the bonfire there was a band playing.
