After Lunch I zigzagged up the hill from Church to Castro then walked down the long hill to the fair. It was like any street fair except with gay men. Instead of having a "Kids Are People Too" booth it had a "Transgender and Happy" booth. It started at19th and went down Castro with a block on either side of 18th then wrapped around Market and ended at Church. Nothing too exciting. A group of Male cheerleaders from the Don't Panic store, performing in the intersection of Castro and Market seemed to have spent more time coordinating their outfits than practicing. Lots of semi-OK, semi erotic drawings of naked men and black and white photos of the Golden Gate Bridge in fog. Let's not forget leather work, political candidates, jewelry and tee-shirts. I saw the guy with the mohawk who was at the Folsom street fair with his dick oiled up and hanging out of rubber chaps. At the Castro Fair he was wearing black jeans a shirt and carrying a leather bag. That pretty much sums up the difference. |
