Sergio left for Mexico City early this morning, so I went in his room and rearranged the furniture. His room has a nicer view but the door is right in the middle of the wall which makes the space awkward to get the living room, bedroom, office effect. It was especially weird because there was a sectional in one corner which made the living room completely nonfunctional. Sergio complained about it but didn't try moving anything around. It works much better now. Almost every place you sit there is a view. In exchange for this service I traded the machine made rug in my room for the hand made rug in that room. It is the best in the house. I was considering moving into Sergio's room when he left. Both rooms have advantages and disadvantages.
That room has morning light and a valley view out the front but the door does divide the space oddly and the houses are close on that side so there is less privacy. The door is right at the top of the steps and next to the kitchen so that makes it less private as well. My room has a door at one end so the space is really easy to organize and live in. The door is at the end of the hall so no one passes by unless they are coming to my room. There is a couch in the hall which also extends my living space, even though I haven't used it yet. Of course this room now has the two best rugs in it. There is a parking lot outside the long side of this room. It gives full afternoon light. The lot is used by the youth hostel which has a 10 AM daily check-out, so in the morning there can be a lot of door slamming and engines starting. The front window has a large palm tree in front of it blocking the valley view. Both the lot and the tree create greater privacy in the room. Robert Ashley, has a song about evaluating rooms as to which was better than the other. I listened to it and I have decided to keep my original room.
