The bridge is the great barrier. The people who live on this side don't have trains into town. They don't want the city to let it's riff-raff out as Robert Ashley would say. I can walk to the top of the hill behind my house and see San Francisco, the Bay and the all the bridges yet I am in a remote place. Today while walking down the road to my studio it struck me that beyond the lagoon and between the hills, where I had expected to see trees, I was looking at the Pacific Ocean.
