I don't have a lot of public web information, but here it is.
So I've really thought there should be a cheap good way to stream movies that you can rent. Sure, bandwidth costs money, but I can't imagine that bandwidth is more expensive than deploying kiosks at every grocery store across the country and servicing them. Yet, strangely, that's exactly what RedBox does, and they can still manage to rent you a movie for 24-hours for $1.29.

I'm not sure whats so wrong with movie-by-movie rental, but it does seem like most online streaming places really want you to sign up for monthly accounts.
