Professional Background

As the strategic communications manager for the SEI Emerging Technology Center, Hollen Barmer supports research and development in the areas of AI and Machine Learning, Advanced Computing, and Human-Machine Teaming. She is currently working with teams at the SEI to lead the creation of an AI Engineering discipline.

Hollen's interests include civic tech and open data, and she is the founder of the Pittsburgh Lenten Fish Fry Map, a project of Code for Pittsburgh.

Before joining the SEI Emerging Technology Center, Hollen was a technical writer and editor, assisting researchers in the fields of cybersecurity and software engineering.
