[The Girl's Friendly Society]

"Trinity (Episcopal Church) Chapter of The Girl's Friendly Society, an international organization of women and girls from all denominations united in a fellowship of prayer and service, was begun in 1912. Among their many outreach projects to assist young business women in the area was the Trinity Lunchroom, opened in 1914 and still in existence today, and a Holiday House 14 miles from Wilkinsburg called Trinity Manor which provided a safe vacation haven for members and their friends. Money for the house and the station wagon, shown here circa 1932, was raised from production of musical comedies in the Nixon Theatre by GFS members in the late 1920's."
