The Fine and Rare Book Room, Hunt Library, 4th Floor



The Fine & Rare Book Room, housing 10,000 books, opened in 1964 with the collection of Rachel McMaster Miller Hunt's collection of books on the history of printing and finely printed books. Other important collections include books from Charles Rosenbloom's of important English and American literature; the Pekruhn gift of American literature; the Henry Posner Family collection that focuses on the history of science; the Anne Lyon Haight Collection of the poem "Twas the Night Before Christmas"; the Frances Hooper collection of works by Kate Greenaway; the papers of Thomas Bell, author of the locally important book "Out of This Furnace"; and the papers of the poet Sara Henderson Hay; the papers of Gladys Schmitt, author and professor; the collection and papers of the calligrapher/teacher, Arnold Bank; and a collection of Swiss posters.
