What is cloud computing?

Cloud computing is the on-demand(use only when needed) availability of computing resources (such as storage and infrastructure), as services over the internet. It eliminates the need for individuals and businesses to self-manage physical resources themselves, and only pay for what they use.

Is cloud computing a new technology per se? In other words, what are the unique technology features of cloud computing, if any?

It is basically having a host company or data center to manage all the data and ensure security. The unique technology features could be the network used to enable the connections among all decentralized nodes
