My name is Dongbo Zhang, a fourth-year PhD candidate in the Second Language Acquisition program in the Department of Modern Languages, Carnegie Mellon University.

Before I came to Carnegie Mellon to pursue my PhD study, I worked as a full-time research associate at the Center for Research in Pedagogy and Practice, National Institute of Education, Singapore, and an ESL lecturer in Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China.

My research interests include second language reading and word knowledge development, literacy acquisition in bilingual children, and classroom discourse in language and literacy learning. My dissertation committee members are Professors Keiko KodaG. Richard Tucker, and William Nagy
