Biography

I am currently an incoming MAPW student and will begin my first semester this fall. I received my BA in English Language and Literature in 2007 from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor where I was able to examine a diverse range of literary texts, study cultural and historical contexts, and survey the art of composition. In the years subsequent to college, I chose to further explore my interests in writing through the niche of public relations and have since garnered nearly 3 years of work experience in the communications realm. There, my writing abilities have helped me to secure various types of media coverage and allowed me to assist in the editing of important published documents. Thus, professional writing is a natural conduit and training in professional writing will also allow me to continue my passions for exposure, while inspiring others with my insights. While my professional experience has matured me with invaluable insight into the communications industry as a whole, I want to immerse myself into current and relevant teachings specific to non-profit and policy communication. This is how I met the MAPW program. As a development writer, I hope to effectively communicate to various audiences through writing; widening their breadths through knowledge and driving their desires to advocate the issue at hand.
