How did the attackers break into it?
On 7th June, the Ministry of Interior issued a statement about the preliminary results of the State of Qatar’s investigation into the hack. It confirmed that a cyber-bug in the QNA website was exploited by hackers using highly advanced methods.

The well-coordinated smear campaign designed to damage the image and reputation of Qatar

How was it investigated?
Qatar has begun an inquiry into a cyberattack by hackers who posted fake remarks on its official media platforms by its ruler purportedly criticising US foreign policy.

Abu Dhabi establishing spy network

What did attackers break into?
A report from the New York Times has revealed that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) established an electronic spy network which included former US National Security Agency (NSA) members to spy on Qatar.

How did the attackers break into it?
UAE hired former US hackers to spy on Qatar. The Pegasus spyware created by Israeli company, the NSO Group, was reportedly used by Abu Dhabi and Riyadh to hack into the phones and devices of several Al Jazeera journalists.

Who was impacted?
According to the newspaper, the main reason behind the UAE’s attempt was to prove Qatar's terrorism financing allegations and its funding of the Muslim Brotherhood group.

How was it investigated?
Qatar has begun an inquiry into a cyberattack by hackers who are responsible for the incidence.
