I just finished my Ph.D. in the Electrical & Computer Engineering department at the University of Maryland, College Park, located in the Washington DC metropolitan area. I am visiting CyLab at Carnegie Mellon University since 2010. My dissertation is on the interaction between communication privacy and side channels, which are communication channels that leak information unintentionally. In brief, I investigated how can an oridnary user can obtain the call records of smartphones and other communication systems without breaking in or wiretapping. Prior to my PhD study, I earned a M.S. and B.S. from National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan. My other research interests include cloud computing (virtualization and storage) and HCI. My CV is here.

In my personal life, I love singing in a chorus and outdoor activities such as kayaking, camping and hiking. I was a member of the Maryland Chorus, the Taipei Philharmonic Chorus, the chorus of the Taipei Symponey Orchestra.
