Biography
I completed my undergraduate work at West Virginia University, where I focused my English degree on professional writing and editing. Through my coursework at WVU I gained experience with technical writing and editing and improved upon my ability to write and edit for a specific audience, often ensuring that complex ideas could be understood by non-expert readers.
I love doing technical work, but I also enjoy book editing and proofreading. Working with authors and colleagues to make sure a book is published in its best possible form has been extremely rewarding. Through internships at a small publishing company and the WVU Press, as well as freelance proofreading for Random House, Inc., I have experience copyediting and proofreading both nonfiction and fiction work.
After graduating from Carnegie Mellon, I hope to work as an editor. Whether I do more technical editing or work in the publishing industry, I know I’ll be happy. No matter the subject, editing comes down to bridging the gap between writer and reader, and that is my passion.
