Winter in Pittsburgh

Pictures just after snow in Pittsburgh, Dec 11, 2005.

Streets

After getting a good bit of snow just days earlier, I looked out the window to see more piling up. So we suited up in appropriate snow gear to go traipse around in the white.

Here are pics looking up and down Wilkins Ave, up Bellerock St, and up Wightman St. Wightman was utterly iced over, and I watched at least a half dozen cars slip and spin while trying (usually unsucessfully) to traverse it. Note the rather squiggly tire tracks left over from other people's attempts. I was very glad we were walking.

jboys in the snow

I introduced the boys to snow pants, and demonstrated their usefulness for keeping warm and dry by flopping down in the snow. They immediately followed suit, which of course, turned into a fun snow fight. Snow fights are fun when I'm big enough to whomp them.

Trees

A variety of tree scenes from around my house.

Playground

We decided to check out how the playground was when it was covered in snow. They loved the snow swings (particularly falling off) and the snow slides. You can see Justin building up his snow slide in preparation for a good time.

Objects

Various object shots from around the house and park.
