Winter in Pittsburgh

Pictures just after a small snowstorm in Pittsburgh, Dec 9, 2005.

Pittsburgh

After a night of snow, everything was white. I estimated between 3-6 inches of snow in various places. My car looked nice and happy, so I decided to walk. Here are a few shots of the streets I pass on the way to work - Fair Oaks St, Wilkins Ave, and Beeler St.

CMU snow sculpting

The day was breezy and damp, so most of the snow that stuck on things was a little crispy. Which meant it was perfect for snowmen and snowforts.

CMU

A few scenes from around CMU: the Cut, trees in front of Baker/Porter, the athletic field, The front of Doherty, and Hamerschlag across the Mall.

Schenley (Flagstaff)

A few views from the path along Flagstaff Hill in Schenley Park.

Schenley (trails)

Various views from Schenley Park.

Schenley (features)

1. Panthers look rather different (and much less intimidating) when covered by a layer of snow.

2. Stairs? What stairs?

Schenley (bridge)

A bridge in Schenley, with views from 2005 and 2002.
