Visit to Phuket and Phi Phi Islands, Thailand 4-8 Oct 2004

It was a 3 hour ferry ride from the mainland to Phi Phi islands. I took pictures of Phi Phi Don as we rode on the ferry. The first three are the southern edge, and the last is Long Beach, just east of Tonsai Bay.
We stayed at the Holiday Inn on Laem Tong beach.
Our second day there, we went on a longtail boat tour of the Phi Phi Lae, the smaller of the two islands. It has quite an impressive cliff.
Pi Leh Bay is a small, beautiful bay with a narrow inlet, supposedly good for snorkeling and swimming. The water was very clear and beautiful.
Ma Ya Bay was used for the movie "The Beach" and charges a small visiting fee for tourists.
The Holiday Inn is on the east shore, but they have a short, steep path to the top of a cliff that overlooks the Andaman Sea, towards the mainland.
Back in Phuket, we stayed at a hotel overlooking Patong Beach.
We visited the Phuket Zoo, where they let visitors pose for a photograph with tigers. The little guys are very friendly and cuddly.
The sun was just setting over Japan as my plane flew back over the Pacific Ocean.
