Computer Security
Computer Security deals with an important area of computer science. The basic idea of computer security is how you can potentially protect your operating systems and hardware at the same time from outside intruders that may want to hack your system to gain access to personal information that is essential to you as an individual. There are many ways to gain access to you personal computer or to hack your personal information.
Instant messaging is an easy way to hack your personal computer because the sender will have a direct link with you and it would be extremely easy to pass information via internet to establish a connection without you knowing. It is very important not to accept any information from any person. Receiving any type of information via instant messaging in not preferable.
Electronic mailing is also another common source to receive viruses. Sometimes Emails are sent out for people to deliberately open. When the users open those specific types of Emails, a connection is made and the virus is uploaded to your system without the user knowing so. Even when the Email is deleted, some viruses may still be able to blend into your system to enable the intruder to hack into your computer continuously and carry out his tasks.
The main objective of computer security is to protect your information which is kept on your computer from theft and corruption. There are many ways to secure your computer. You can install programs that are known as "Anti viruses" like Norton Anti Virus or Installing Firewall. These are special products you can buy to help prevent viruses from entering your system. There are also other simple tips that can greatly benefit you from evading viruses in the first place. For example, it is always beneficial to leave unknown emails closed, or even better deleted. Our Emails now contain a 'Spam' folder, which is a place any unknown Email is sent to. Other Emails that may contain 'Junk' material, is automatically sent into you ' Junk mail' folder. Make sure both types of Spam and Junk folders are always empty to minimize risks of encountering viruses or mails that may contain them.
Computer security is a nonstop developing field. Everyday, new viruses are being programmed and sent out to people around the world. There will always be new unknown viruses around but hopefully the advances of computer security will always be there to halt its progress.
One last point, it is always essential, when creating a new account to an Email, or a community sharing website such as Facebook or Myspace, to have a good password. Such password should contain mixed variables, capital letters, numbers, in order to make it more difficult to decrypt or guess what that password is to prevent any intruders from entering your personal information.
